This artwork comprises of a salvaged letterpress tray, shot with red resin filling the compartments of the letters that make the word ‘Genocide’.
Made in collaboration with artist Dena Al Jamal: an Australian-Palestinian artist who was presented the Lindsay King Award for 10 years of sharing Islamic art and culture with the City of Casey. Having lost more than 40 family members in Gaza already, this project is personal.

Artist Statement:
War journalism exposes the human cost of conflict. It serves as a critical record of events, documenting history in real-time. By telling the stories of those most impacted by war, the powerful are held to account.
For this reason, targeting journalists is a war crime.
Yet in Gaza, over 248 journalists and media workers have been killed in 22 months. This number is the highest toll of any conflict in modern history, exceeding all major wars combined.
This work bears witness to the silencing of the truthtellers.
They ask, ‘How many more do we need to lose before we are heard?’
